I have done a little research about articles. During my search I suddenly realised that for article writers the same rules apply as to Web Developers.

In the web development industry the term SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is very important and often used.

What is SEO?

SEO is a way of ensuring that if a search engine like Google or Yahoo comes to a website, it will get the most from it and the page will be ranked high.

How to apply SEO to articles on Triond

I have to say that I actually haven't done this yet but I am just writing an article following this method. How successful it will be I will discover later.

The first step would be finding 3 - 5 keywords which you want to base your article on. A good tool for this is Google Trends . It will help you see what people search for. Lets say I pick the term SEO to write an article on. If you enter your term you will get a graph on which you will be able to see how many people searched for it.

The graph shows me that it more and more people search for this term. Now I want to compare it with other terms like Search Engine Optimization. So you enter it into the box but seperate SEO and Search Engine Optimization with a comma. You will see that loads more people searched for SEO.

You can also sign up to KeywordCountry and find high paying keywords. However this tool is for Google Ads not for Yahoo which Triond uses. But I am sure that the keywords are very similar.

So you search until you have 3-5 keywords which are popular.

Once you have found them you need to think about what you want to write. Many websites say that you should aim for a keyword desnity of 3%-5%. This means that in every 100 words you should use your keywords 3-5 times.

There are some places where you should use the keywords.

1. Article title: Place the best or even 2 best keywords in the article title.
2. Heading: This is the furst sentence or paragraph.
3. Sub heading: Section your article into differnet parts and place keywords into the sub headings
4. Hyperlinks: example < href="http://link.com">KEYWORD HERE <>

SEO when uploading to Triond

There is one more place where you need to remember your keywords; during upload to Triond.

The important fields are Keywords, Description, Title.

I have already written about the title.

Keywords: Place all your keywords into this field BUT don't write more than 250 characters.

Description: Write a short description about your article filled with keywords. 2-3 sentances are enough.

These will appear in the code of the website but invisible for the user. However the search engines will pick up on that.
